おはいよ!クリスマスおめでとう!
Christmas would not be complete if there was no party.. or if there weren't any cake and cookies, so I figured i'd bake cookies and throw a party (of course I cooked other things , actually lots of things) So here is a blog about my Cookies and even a bonus recipe to show you the ropes if its your first time (wish someone could have showed me the ropes)
So basically its
6 cups of all purpose flour (regular flour will do)
1 table spoon of Baking powder (if you are using multi purpose or self raising flour you can skip this ingredient and add another 1/2 cup of flour to the already 6 cup above)
1 Table spoon ginger powder (if you use raw ginger you gotta make it 2 table spoon, or more depending on how gingery you want it)
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon cloves (you can skip this if you don't like the smell of cloves)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (they don't have to be in a powdered form but its crucial that they can fit trough a strainer)
1 cup butter or margarine melted into liquid form
1 cup brown sugar (you can use white sugar but they might turn out white)
1 cup honey (you can use mollases if you want)
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
So for the Process:
Sift all the powders and dry ingredients (not the brown sugar)
Mix together the melted butter/margarine with all the other liquid ingredients until they are well in together (you can cheat this part with using an electric mixer)
Pour in the dry ingredients and mix slowly (manually stir with a flat object for this part)
mix until they are well together until the batter reaches a consistency softer than bread but not as watery as cake
split the dough into 3 or 4 and put each into a respective plastic bag, flatten them in the bag and let them sit in the refrigerator for 3 or more hours
take them out and flour up a board
if the dough sticks onto either your rolling pin or board keep on flouring it (but not too much)
flatten the dough unto the board to a thickness of 1/4 or more inches
cut with cookie cutters or manually
place them on a piece of baking paper
preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius
toss them in and for about 20 minutes and constantly check until they reach a light brown color (you can play around with the temperature)
then you're done
let them sit till they have cooled down (not low as room temperature)
add your royal frosting to decorate
Royal Icing:
Add 3 egg whites and let them sit for a few minutes (remember just the whites)
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
4 cups of fine/grounded/pounded/caster or even rough sugar
Mix the "waooogas" out of them till it turns a milky white
now feel free to apply but be sure to always cover the bowl with the frostings with a damp towel (to prevent them form hardening)
